本故事发生于五、六十年代的香港。 邓伟祥﹝郭晋安饰﹞奉母遗愿，从内地到港投靠未来外父凌醒波﹝秦煌饰﹞。谁知找波不果，惟先找到表叔邓镜尘﹝马国明饰﹞投靠。尘是个通天经纪，终日营营役役，朝不保夕。机缘巧合下，尘从一寻人广告中，得知祥之未来外父竟是富商波。尘不惜借下大耳窿雷贵利，教祥讹称有钱仔，一起往见未来外父。不料，被波妻－林兰卿﹝卢宛茵饰﹞认定祥存心白撞，把祥、尘赶走，祥误会被卿嫌弃家贫，自尊心受损，忿然离去。雷上门追债，祥以事情因自己而起，决为尘还债，尘感动，于是两老表同捞同煲，齐齐搵食。 祥的同屋住郑碧云﹝胡杏儿饰﹞与弟郑小龙﹝林泳东饰﹞相依为命。云原于波之花露水厂打工，因厂长公报私仇，藉词辞退云，云逼于无奈，只好暂时到舞厅任女侍应。另方面，祥之未婚妻凌凤﹝江芷妮饰﹞因不愿婚姻大事被父母安排，离家出走。奶妈黎雯娣﹝夏萍饰﹞安排凤暂住板间房，与祥等成...。Somewhere on the internet is a land where communities pretend to live out a survivalist fiction.
